Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced that the updated list now includes an additional 164 types of products, including automotive engine oil, lithium-ion batteries, and power tools.
Supplies of hydrogen chloride, aluminum hydroxide, nitrocellulose, pipes for gas and oil pipelines, as well as rhenium in lumps, powder, and waste form have been banned.
It was decided to expand the existing list of base metal articles. It is also forbidden to supply power tools to the Russian Federation, specifically grinding tools for processing wood, cork, hard rubber, and plastic. Microtomes and thermostats are now prohibited as well.
A ban is also being introduced on the import of non-industrial diamonds of Russian origin.
In addition, the category of vessels has been expanded to include floating or submersible drilling or production platforms.
The Japanese government adopted these measures on April 5, and the decision will be officially published on the 10th. Restrictions take effect on April 17, with the exception of non-industrial diamonds, the ban on which takes effect on May 10.
