Multimodal transportation is used when direct delivery by a single mode of transport is impossible. Cargo moves in a single transport unit (container) across different types of transport without transshipment of the cargo itself.
We act as a single logistics operator: combining sea, rail, road, and air transport under a single contract. We synchronize the schedules of vessels, freight trains, and road transport, eliminating downtime at transit terminals. You receive a through rate and a cargo safety guarantee from the sender's factory to your warehouse in the Russian Federation.

We select optimal routes based on the client's required transit times and budget. TransGID uses:
Sea + Rail deliveryThe base route for imports from Asia. The most popular direction, from China to Russia, is operated via the Far Eastern ports (Vladivostok, Nakhodka). Containers are transshipped onto fitting platforms and travel by rail to terminals in Moscow (Vorsino, Elektrougli, Selyatino) or any other regions of the Russian Federation. Suitable for general cargo, machinery, and raw materials.
Sea + Road deliveryA classic door-to-door transportation scheme. Sea freight is carried out to the ports of Novorossiysk and St. Petersburg or transit hubs (Istanbul, Bandar Abbas). At the destination terminal, we load the container onto our fleet's container truck and deliver it to the recipient.
Air + Road (Express)A solution for valuable cargo and samples. Air delivery to the nearest available international airport, followed by on-forwarding by road transport to the warehouse.

Geography of International Transportation
TransGID organizes multimodal container shipping exclusively for international routes. We operate in the following directions:
China and Southeast Asia. Multimodal transportation from China, Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand. We use consolidation warehouses in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Qingdao, as well as land border crossings at Alashankou, Khorgos, and Mudanjiang.
Middle East and India. Multimodal transportation from India and the UAE. We build routes through Iranian seaports (Bandar Abbas) with further transit by road or Caspian Sea ferries to Astrakhan and Makhachkala.
Europe and Turkey. Multimodal transportation from Europe in transit via Turkish warehouses (Istanbul, Ambarli). We arrange cargo transit through CIS countries: Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan.
Cargo We Transport
Our infrastructure allows us to accept any commercial consignments for transportation:
FCL (Full Container Load): Standard 20- and 40-foot containers.
LCL (Less than Container Load): We consolidate small batches from various suppliers into a single multimodal route.
Oversized and heavy cargo: We use specialized equipment (Flat Rack, Open Top) and low-loader trailers for the delivery of machinery and plant lines.
Dangerous goods (ADR): Transportation of industrial chemicals and batteries in compliance with maritime and railway requirements.

What is the difference between multimodal, combined, and intermodal transportation?
From a legal and practical point of view, these are synonymous for the client. The term combined transport is more often used in Russian domestic legislation.
Multimodal transportation is performed by a single company, which bears responsibility for the cargo at all stages of delivery. The carrier issues a single set of documents for all modes of transport. This is faster and more convenient.
Intermodal transportation is carried out by different companies. Each company is responsible for its own stage of transport and issues a separate set of documents. This takes longer and is more complicated in terms of preparation and paperwork.
Who is responsible for the cargo when changing transport modes at a port or station?
Responsibility lies entirely with us as a single operator. You enter into a single contract with TransGID LLC. All risks during container transshipment from vessel to train or from a railway platform to a truck are insured and monitored by our representatives at the terminals.
How to calculate the cost of combined transportation?
The through rate depends on the port of loading (e.g., Shanghai or Ningbo), container type (20 or 40 feet), and destination station in the Russian Federation. A packing list and invoice are required for calculation. We will provide a rate taking into account terminal handling charges (THC), freight, and road transport.
Do you provide customs clearance on transit routes?
Yes. We handle customs clearance both at border crossings (Vladivostok, Zabaikalsk) and at internal customs posts (CED) upon completion of the customs transit procedure.
