In January 2024, the OAO Russian Railways network carried 621.1 thousand loaded and empty containers (TEU) in all types of traffic, which is 8.7% more than in the same period in 2023, including 255 thousand TEU in domestic traffic (+16.7%).
The number of loaded containers sent in all types of traffic increased by 6.5%, to 442.3 thousand TEU (+7.9%), the press service of OAO Russian Railways reports.
A total of 6.5 million tons of cargo were transported, including:
- Chemicals and soda — 68.1 thousand TEU (-0.5% compared to January 2023);
- Forestry cargo — 41.8 thousand (-4.5%);
- Chemical and mineral fertilizers — 40.7 thousand (an increase of 1.9 times);
- Industrial goods — 33.6 thousand (-8.9%);
- Metal products — 33.5 thousand (at the level of last year);
- Cars and components — 31.6 thousand (+23.1%);
- Paper — 30.8 thousand (-6.5%);
- Machines, machine tools, engines — 28.7 thousand (-17.5%);
- Construction materials — 19.2 thousand (an increase of 1.5 times);
- Ferrous metals — 17.7 thousand (-18.8%);
- Other and assembled cargo — 17 thousand (+17%);
- Grain — 12.9 thousand (an increase of 1.9 times);
- Non-ferrous metals — 10.5 thousand (+8.9%);
- Oil and petroleum products — 7.5 thousand (+3%);
- Non-ferrous ore and sulfur raw materials — 2.9 thousand (+19%);
- Fish — 2.8 thousand (-10.6%);
- Meat and animal fat — 1.8 thousand (-0.5%);
- Milled products — 2.5 thousand (an increase of 2.9 times);
- Potatoes, vegetables, fruits — 1.1 thousand (-31.6%);
- Other food products — 21.7 thousand (+1.7%).
