The Association of Sea Commercial Ports published data for January 2024.
Compared to last year, the cargo turnover of Russian sea ports in January decreased by 6.2% and amounted to 71 million tons. The volume of dry cargo handling decreased by 5.8% and amounted to 32.8 million tons. At the same time, the amount of cargo in containers was 4.2 million tons — 5.5% more than a year earlier. The volume of liquid cargo handling decreased by 6.5% and amounted to 38.2 million tons (-6.5%). Export cargo transshipment amounted to 55.9 million tons (-6.6%), import cargo — 3.2 million tons (-1.0%), transit — 6.2 million tons (+5.8%), cabotage — 5.8 million tons (+15.0%).
The cargo turnover of sea ports in the Far Eastern basin decreased by 9.1% and amounted to 16.9 million tons: Vostochny — 7.0 million tons (-8.1%), Vanino — 1.6 million tons (-42.0%), Vladivostok — 2.8 million tons (+2.7%), Nakhodka — 2.2 million tons (-0.3%), Prigorodnoye — 1.3 million tons (-1.8%).
The cargo turnover of sea ports in the Arctic basin decreased by 5.4% and amounted to 7.8 million tons: Murmansk — 4.4 million tons (-13.2%), Sabetta — 2.6 million tons (+11.3%), Varandey — 0.5 million tons (0.0%), Arkhangelsk — 0.1 million tons (-6.1%).
The cargo turnover of sea ports in the Baltic basin decreased by 4.3% and amounted to 21.6 million tons: Ust-Luga — 9.0 million tons (-22.6%), Primorsk — 6.2 million tons (+3.4%), Big Port St. Petersburg — 4.4 million tons (+43.9%), Vysotsk — 1.2 million tons (+1.9%).
The cargo turnover of sea ports in the Azov-Black Sea basin decreased by 7.1% and amounted to 24.0 million tons: Novorossiysk — 14.0 million tons (-1.5%), Taman — 3.5 million tons (-16.2%), Tuapse — 2.0 million tons (-9.9%), Kavkaz — 1.5 million tons (-10.0%), Rostov-on-Don — 1.1 million tons (-18.1%).
The cargo turnover of sea ports in the Caspian basin amounted to 0.7 million tons (an increase of 1.6 times). The volume of cargo handling at the port of Astrakhan increased to 0.4 million tons (an increase of 1.8 times), the port of Makhachkala increased the cargo turnover to 0.3 million tons (+11.5%).
