JSC Russian Railways transported loaded and empty containers totaling 1.93 million TEUs in the first three months of 2024, which is 11.4% more than in the same period last year.
The number of loaded containers dispatched across all types of traffic grew by 9.4% and reached 1.4 million TEUs. More than 20 million tons of cargo (+10.4%) were transported in them, including: – chemicals and soda — 211.3 thousand TEUs (+1.5%); – timber cargo — 140.7 thousand (+2.4%); – chemical and mineral fertilizers — 118.5 thousand (a 1.8-fold increase); – hardware / fasteners — 111.5 thousand (+11.2%); – manufactured goods — 108.1 thousand (+3.9%); – cars and automotive components — 98.1 thousand (+10.4%); – machinery, machine tools, engines — 97 thousand (-10%); – paper — 88.7 thousand (-7.7%); – construction cargo — 64.5 thousand (a 1.5-fold increase); – ferrous metals — 55.1 thousand (-16.7%); – other and groupage cargo — 53.8 thousand (+25.2%); – grain — 33.9 thousand (a 1.5-fold increase); – non-ferrous metals — 31.8 thousand (+5.2%); – crude oil and petroleum products — 24.9 thousand (+8.4%); – fish — 9.6 thousand (+3.7%); – milling products — 8.5 thousand (a 3-fold increase); – non-ferrous ore and sulfur raw materials — 7.8 thousand (+15.7%); – meat and animal butter — 6.5 thousand (+15.9%); – potatoes, vegetables, fruit — 3.9 thousand (-24.9%); – other food products — 69.3 thousand (+3.2%).
In March, 681.5 thousand TEUs were transported across the Russian Railways network in all types of traffic, which is 11.7% more than in March 2023.
