After the new package of Western sanctions against Russia, logistics companies were also hit. The sanctions apply to major mining and metallurgical clients of Russian Railways: Mechel, UMMC and SUEK, OMK and TMK, and, suddenly, to companies from Delo Group — TransContainer and Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company.
The press service of PJSC TransContainer stated: “The company's operational activities are carried out in a regular mode - train traffic in international and domestic traffic is carried out in accordance with schedules, terminals are operating in accordance with the established procedure.”
So far, these measures really will not affect the work of TransContainer, which in recent years has been focused on working in the Asian region, but do not forget about secondary sanctions. As we can see, they have already affected China, India, Turkey and the UAE — more than 30 companies from friendly countries have been sanctioned for cooperation with Russia. Now it is not the difficulties in foreign exchange transactions and the supply of certain goods that are causing concern, but the possibility of trading in principle.
If the pressure on TransContainer increases, the CIS countries may also stop working with it: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, etc. In this case, the company will have to concentrate on domestic transportation.
Perhaps in the near future, transport companies will have to look for new loopholes and review logistics, or perhaps everything will be limited to just one “Case”.
